About us
Body Gossip is run by people who are passionate about positive body image, who work for free to spread our message. At the centre of the Body Gossip Campaign are founder Ruth Rogers and Natasha Devon. An actress and journalist respectively, these former classmates have both had personal experience of the detrimental effect of society’s obsession with body image.
Ruth founded the campaign in 2006 while studying acting in New York, and experiencing first hand the pressures to look "perfect". She returned to the UK determined to start a movement that challenged this battle for perfection, that allowed real bodies to step into the limelight. Meanwhile Natasha was launching her own body confidence campaign in schools having just beaten a 10 year battle with bulimia. In 2008 their two campaigns joined forces.
Ruth and Natasha also work very closely with Sallyann Keizer and Tim Duck of Sixth Sense Films and Sarah Bakker at Spectrecom to make our short films available on YouTube.
Our publishers for Body Gossip the Book are the wonderful Rickshaw Publishing Ltd.
Also in Team Body Gossip are graphic designer Lee Simmons, photographers Danielle Manson and Liz Rogers, and all-round superstars Lynsey Tash, Mark Johnson, Sian Baxter and Hannah Rushbrooke.
Last year Body Gossip formed a partnership with the National Osteoporosis Society, and became their Campaign of 2010. They have also received funding from Social Entrepreneur company Unltd.
This year they are working in partnership with The Succeed Foundation.
